Seagulls to pursue a long-time goal – that of having its staff gain certification as Addiction Professionals. It sent two of its staff, Ate Regh and Ate Daisy to Cebu last January to attend Part 1 of the Training for Accreditation under the auspices of Colombo Plan’s ACCE (Asian Center of Certification and Education) Program. They took up Curriculums 1, 2 and 3 of the program which are about the Science of Addiction, Continuum of Care and Professional Ethics for Addiction Professionals.

To further complement this, Seagulls sent Ate Regh and Kuya Ferdie to Bangkok, Thailand to take up Part 2 of the program which are Curriculums 6, 7 and 8 focusing on Basic Counseling Skills, Treatment Planning and Documentation and Assessment, Intake and Case Management.

Being certified as an Addiction Professional is one goal workers in the field of treatment and rehabilitation aspire for. Getting that accreditation gives him or her a pedigree to work in this field. With the accreditation of its staff, Seagulls hope to put more professionalism and technical competence in its advocacy work.
